Skiing had its beginnings in Arosa and the surrounding area at the end of the 19th century. So what could be more natural than to found a ski club? This happened as early as 1903, at the same time as the Swiss Ski Association (today: Swiss Ski). The focus was on joint ski tours, which were the prerequisite for downhill skiing at the time: there were no mountain railroads or even ski lifts anywhere. What began in 1903 with 9 members and an annual membership fee of CHF 2, the Arosa Ski Club now has around 670 members. The complete history of the Arosa Ski Club was compiled in an exciting book on the occasion of the 100th anniversary celebrations.
